iAssist is proud to present the definitive ‘previous inventory report’ solution! A while ago we wrote a blog about doing ‘follow up’ property reports on iAssist when the previous report isn’t yet on your iAssist system. This situation can arise when you have a backlog of previous reports you prepared prior before you discovered iAssist - or when a client hands you a report prepared by someone else. To recap – in such a situation you have three basic options. You can:-
1) Refer to an existing report and create a supplementary document that records the meter readings, the key schedule and then just notes and emphasises any obvious changes in condition.
2) Replicate a large part of the previous report on iAssist while you are on site and then proceed to add the new information at the same time.
3) Ensure that the previous report is entered onto the system before going on site.
We recognise that you might previously have chosen to create a supplementary property inventory report, especially if you don’t have time to enter the information on to the system yourself and you don’t have a tool to automate the data entry. But the third option, ensuring the information is entered onto the system before going on site is always the best strategy. This way you not only spend less time on site the next time you visit – it’s an investment because every future report prepared for that property will be much easier (and you never again have to have a paper copy flapping around).
